Busy Izzy showed signs of artistic passion very early....at one point we lived in a small apartment, and she created so much so fast....I began taping her work on a wall...."Her Art Wall" She was so very proud :-)
I began to teach her things about shadowing, and different techniques (I'm a self taught artist, so the lingo is foreign to me).
We moved, and I carefully took her art work down. We moved into a house when she started school. Then the Kindergarten artwork and school work came FLOODING in! At a very intense rate!
I became pregnant with Livie Bug. My heart sank...OMG! Isabelle??? Have I done all I could for her as an only child??? I became intensely focused on "Mommy Busy Izzy" time...Tea parties at the Botanical Gardens, Campfires, Fairy Hunts and endless b-day parties...
All the while I had a "Rubbermaid" brand box...that I had Busy Izzy dump her school work in for 2 yrs.
Then, came 1st grade, and Livie Bug was born. On my maternity leave I sifted through 2 yrs worth of work. After deciding what was to go and what was to stay....I needed to have some sort of order....
Front part: would be for awards and news paper articles.
Middle: Class work
Last: Art work
And dates were definitely taken into consideration.
Supplies:
• A 3" Binder (I think it's the biggest)
• Heavy Duty hole Punch
• Laminating Machine
Make Sure! To laminate 2 pages at once....you want to see front and back.
Here are some pieces of work from Busy Izzy's Memory Book :-)
I laminated everything: Report Cards, Awards....these are for my next book for Busy Izzy. As she is getting older....Less Art work....and more paper work.
She Loves Looking through her book....and seeing what she did....there's nothing more special than a child seeing how much they're loved, and how special they are....
By preserving your child's work like this...it will never disintegrate.
They put hardwork into this....show them you care :-)
I, personally, don't recommend doing this after a certain age....this might be the last year...lol
Can you remember back when maybe an award or trophy was displayed in your house? How did you feel?
The supplies were, all together, maybe 60$.
But, I still use them 3 yrs later...it was an investment ;-) That of course I will use for my other two little girls :-)

love this!!!!! I will probably start on it with no lamination this week. I have or use to have a machine to laminate but never used it and now I wish I had it out n ready to use..lol thanks !!! awesome idea!! <3 steph
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome to hear, Steph!!! :-) I got this one at Walmart. I recommend you buy an extra pack of laminating plastic covers....There is nothing worse than getting into your project! And having to "Pause".....ugh forcing me out of my "Zone" Not Happy! Lol
